Farmington New Hampshire Police Department

The Farmington Police Department has arrested 3 residents for their participation in 2 burglaries that occurred in October 2011 on Elm Street and November 2011 on Aiken Road in Farmington. The arrests resulted from extensive investigation and multiple interviews by a number of officers. The following subjects were charged:

TIMOTHY R. BALCH, AGE 23

TRANSIENT

2 counts of Burglary (Class A)

MATTHEW YORK, AGE 25

LKA: High Street, Farmington, NH

Burglary (Class A), Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Class B)

KELLY ADAMS, AGE 23

LKA: High Street, Farmington, NH

Conspiracy to Commit Burglary (Class A), Criminal Liability for Conduct of Another (Class A)

Balch is alleged to have participated in both burglaries while York and Adams are alleged to have participated in the burglary on Aiken Road. Because York was already a convicted felon at the time of these incidents and firearms were stolen in the burglary on Aiken Road, York was charged as being a Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. It is further alleged by the department that Adams did not actively participate in the burglaries but drove Balch and York to and from the burglary on Aiken Road.

The department continues to investigate whether these three suspects were involved in other burglaries or thefts in Farmington. Additionally, the department has been actively sharing information with other area departments to determine whether Balch, York and Adams may have been involved in thefts or burglaries in other communities.

The suspects were arraigned on July 9, 2012. Balch is currently incarcerated on these and other unrelated charges while both York and Adams have been released on bail.

The department continues to work relentlessly to solve burglaries that plagued the area during the latter half of 2011 and first few months of 2012. During a 5 month period from October 2011 to February 2012, there were 42 burglaries in Farmington. In the last 4.5 months, there has been a 50% decrease (21 burglaries) from March 2012 to today. We are working diligently to reduce that number even further.
